![]() ![]() This height of liquid upstream of the weir represents a hydrostatic pressure, much the same as liquid heights in piezometer tubes represent pressures in a liquid flow stream through an enclosed pipe. In order for this to happen, the level of the liquid upstream of the weir must rise above the weir’s crest height. As the liquid begins to flow through the channel, it must spill over the crest of the weir in order to get past the weir and continue downstream in the channel. Pets are only permitted in Franconia Notch State Park in the designated dog walks in the Flume & Tramway parking lots.At a condition of zero flow through the channel, the liquid level will be at or below the crest (lowest point on the opening) of the weir. Pets are prohibited from the Flume Gorge, Echo Lake Beach, Lafayette Campground and on the Tram.Restrooms can still be accessed from the back of the building if needed.Once checked in for your reserved time, you will proceed around the building and begin the Flume Trail.You can enter the main building before or after your walk for access to restrooms, gift shop, food & beverage.Reservation Check-In is outside on the walkway in front of the main building.Refund requests can be made by emailing by 9am on the day of the reservation, however requests may be denied and are not guaranteed. ![]() We do not offer refunds due to weather unless we shut down for the day.Guests will be turned away when we are sold out. The trail is mostly packed gravel with boardwalk sections and includes moderate uphill walking and stairs within the gorge. This self-guided walk is 2 miles and takes approximately 1.5 hours.
